Our standard
Throughline aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This is the standard used to judge accessibility under the UK Equality Act 2010 and across the European Union.
You should be able to use Throughline with a keyboard alone, with a screen reader, zoomed to 200%, on a phone, and in light or dark mode.
How we checked
On 15 October 2026 we ran the axe-core accessibility checker against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 level A and AA rules on twelve screens: the home page, How it works, How the tracker works, Getting started, the campaign list, the Journalists list, a campaign's Set up, Online coverage, Coverage Analysis, AI check and Pitches screens, and a tracker. We checked them in light and dark mode and at phone and desktop widths.
Every problem it found was fixed, and the same twelve screens now pass in all four combinations: text colours too faint to read easily (including gold text, now a darker gold, and green and red text in dark mode), links marked by colour alone, an unlabelled control, links too small to tap, tables that could not be scrolled with the keyboard, and page titles that did not say which page you were on. We also made table rows that open something work from the keyboard, made keyboard focus more visible, and respect the reduced-motion setting.
Automated checks find only some problems. People using assistive technology have not yet tested Throughline, and we will add what they find here.
What we know is not yet fully accessible
PDF exports are made by your browser's print function from a web page, so they contain real text, but how well a screen reader reads them depends on your browser. The shared web report holds the same information and is the most accessible version.
Each demonstration video on How it works has the same steps written beside it. The videos have no captions.
Charts have no text description yet.
